The problem with free information
There is a lot of free information out there, but is there enough to skip courses and learn how to do dropshipping without a course?
I'm positive you can learn everything for free on the Internet, but there is some problem with free information.

How I go started without a course
The first time I tried to make money online was with affiliate marketing. A course was promoted on a podcast I was following. So I joined the webinar where they were selling the course. The process was easy enough to follow, and with some youtube videos, I felt I was ready to do this without paying $1997 for the course.
I chose a niche, started a website and did what I have learned. Today my site is paying for itself and maybe a beer or two a year. Not a huge success, but I have learned a couple of lessons.
Later I got access to the same course by buying a dropshipping course. The affiliate course was a bonus by signing up through one of the coaches affiliate link. So after working with my dropshipping course, I went through the affiliate course. My goal was not to do this, but check what I was missing.
I was missing a lot of information, this was something obvious for me early. Another thing I was missing was mentoring. At some stages, we needed to fill out some paperwork and send it to them to validate what we were doing. So if I chose a niche that clearly was not easy to do, the coaches would stop me or give me hints to do it correctly. This was huge and is helping a lot. Another thing is the community I was missing.
Those who pay, pay attention
There is much truth in the quote from Russell Brunson, the co-founder of ClickFunnels. I see it myself, very few times I read the free lead magnets I receive. If I read them is to know if I can model something similar myself to give away.
“Those who pay, pay attention. And the more they pay, the closer attention they pay.”
Russell Brunson, Expert Secrets

If you don't pay for the information you receive, you will quickly give up. You have not invested in this and can quickly leave the project. If you spend a lot for a dropshipping course, you will do your best to make this a success. You will watch the course and you are invested in this idea. So you want a return for your money. This doesn't mean that you should find the most expensive course out there, but you should find an awesome course at a reasonable price.
This is maybe also a reason for all the stories you are hearing from successful people. Many of them have been poor or hated what they were doing at that time. Their pain was so big that they worked really hard for it.
Youtube as your dropshipping course
On youtube, you will find everything you need, and if you pay attention, you will find all the information you need. There are videos out there that explain everything from A to Z.
The problem with youtube is that there is so much information there, and there is so much conflicting information. I can't validate everything out there, but I bet most of the tactics that are explained is working, so what do you choose?
You will also try to get the whole picture, this is something that most people try to do. So you try to understand everything before you begin. You research every topic in the book, and you find yourself on youtube forever and very few times in Shopify or doing research on products or your audience. Too much information can create information overload.
Facebook as your dropshipping course
Several Facebook groups are about the topic dropshipping. I have joined a few myself and try to follow the trends. I have learned a lot, and I really enjoy some of the information.
Also here you can be using most of your time on Facebook. Reading what other people claims are working for them. You can suddenly jump from tactic to tactic that doesn't work because you are not spending time learning the tactic before you give up.
Social media is something you should avoid and rather work with your business.
Why you should buy a course
I have bought some courses. Some were expensive, and some were less expensive. The less expensive was usually in a particular topic that I wanted to learn more about. Always I had this special feeling inside me, I was excited and was really looking forward to doing this. I have never been like this with a youtube video…
Then I receive this step by step information. I don't need to know everything, I receive the information I need to do the next step. How to do Facebook marketing? I don't care, because my next step is to install a Shopify theme. The course says so and wants me to do it in the correct order.
If you want to know what Shopify theme you should use, take a look at my review of Ecom Turbo.

Your information will be consistent, and there is no conflicting advice. You are sure about what you are doing, and you will later see the proves that this is working by other members that are posting their information. You will not be a confused mind that is continuously watching youtube videos to find the truth. You already have the facts…
Then you have mentoring. You have coaches to ask. You have other members to ask for advice. You are part of a bigger group that will motivate you to follow on. The biggest failure people do are giving up to early.
So how much does an education cost? This is something Alex Becker is talking about. His dropshipping course cost $3000 that is a lot to pay, but how much money do you pay for an education at school? How much time do you use to finish this education? And education will not guarantee you a job. So even Alex Becker's H-Com 3030 that cost $3000 is a small price to pay. And the money you can earn is much bigger than education can give you.
The conclusion is that courses are worth it
If you have already bought 2-3 dropshipping courses, another one will probably not help you. So you need to consider what you have done before. We don't have the same skills, and some people will struggle a lot with dropshipping, and perhaps there are other methods to make money online that suits you better.
If you are new to dropshipping, you can read my little guide on dropshipping here. It will help you but is far from complete. You will understand the process, but you will lack a lot of information that a course will give you.
Dropshipping courses are worth it. If you pay for a course that will help you reach your dreams faster, isn't it worth it? If a course is all you have to pay to avoid failure, isn't it worth it? I will say its worth it when you are thinking about the huge income you can earn when you are finding the big winning products.
And if you want to invest in yourself and buy a course, you can read my review of Ecom Elites by Franklin Hatchett. I cover what you will receive, and you will have the information you need to know if this is something for you.
